If Monserrat is Buenos Aires' historic heart, then San Nicolás is the central nerve of the modern city – a fast-moving, noisy, traffic-filled district packed with offices, banks, bars, hotels and stores. Regardless of whether or not you're staying in the barrio – though many travellers do – you're bound to come here frequently during your visit to eat or drink, make travel arrangements or take in the sights, which include some interesting museums, beautiful theatres and varied shopping arcades.
