Getting around

The cities and densely populated valleys of south Wales support plenty of train and bus routes, linked in with the British national network, but the more thinly inhabited areas of mid- and north Wales are less well served. Of course, with a car – your own or a rental (easily picked up in Cardiff, Swansea or the smaller towns) – you'll be able to see a lot more of the country in your own time.

The most reliable source of comprehensive, impartial information on public transport throughout Wales is Traveline Cymru (0871/200 2233, www.traveline-cymru.info ).
