Getting around
Lithuania's cheap and comprehensive public transport system somehow continues to function efficiently, despite being reliant on clapped-out vehicles and decaying station buildings. Buses provide the most convenient way of getting around: there are frequent services between the main cities and departures to the remotest of villages at least once or twice a day. Trains are slightly cheaper, but although they connect the major towns, departures are infrequent and journey times painfully slow.
