1 Bio-piac XII, Csörsz utca 18. Organic market behind the Mom Cultural Centre (Mom Művelődési Központ), up the road from the Mom Park Mall. Great range of produce, especially in summer – the peaches, tomatoes and peppers are so much better than supermarket fare. There is also a playground for children. The odd right-wing nationalist stalls should not bother visitors. Opening time: Sat 6.30am– noon
2 Fény utca II, at the back of the Mammut mall, by Moszkva tér. Popular market that has survived a transfer to a modern setting. There's an excellent cheese shop on the top floor, which is also where you'll find what is perhaps the best lángos in town – a popular stand-up snack of fried dough eaten with garlic, sour cream, cheese or all three together. Opening time: Mon– Fri 6am–4pm, Sat 6am–1pm
