1 Fonó XI, Sztregova utca 3. It's a 20min tram ride from Deák tér on #47 to get to the shop in the bar of this folk club, but it's worth the effort for the range of jazz, ethno-jazz blues and world music and, above all, Hungarian folk CDs. Opening time: Wed– Fri 5–10pm, Sat 7–10pm

2 Bio Centrum II, Széna tér 3, inside the Mammut I. This is the city's only organic supermarket, on the first floor of the Mammut mall. Mon– Sat 10am–9pm, Sun 10am–6pm.

3 Életház XII, Böszörményi út 13-15. One of the first organic shops in Budapest, this lies above Déli metro station and has a range of foods, cosmetics and other eco-products. Mon– Fri 10am–6pm, Sat 10am–1pm.
