Some 50km northeast of Helsinki, PORVOO (Borgå in Swedish) is one of the oldest towns on the south coast. Lined by small wooden buildings, its narrow cobbled streets give a sense of the Finnish life that predated the capital's bold squares and Neoclassical geometry.
