Open-Air Museum

Opening time: June– Aug daily 11am–5pm; early Sept & late May Mon– Fri 9am–3pm, Sat & Sun 11am–5pm

The Open-Air Museum is a collection of vernacular buildings assembled from all over Finland, connected by the various pathways that extend around the island. There are better examples of traditional Finnish life elsewhere in the country, but if you're only visiting Helsinki this will give a good insight into how the country folk lived until surprisingly recently. The old-style church is a popular spot for city couples' weddings.
