Burgher's House

    Website: www.hel.fi/kaumuseo

    Address: Kristianinkatu 12

The single-storey wooden Burgher's House stands in vivid contrast to the tall granite dwellings around it – and gives an indication of how Helsinki looked when wood was still the predominant building material. The house is the oldest original standing wooden structure in the city, and its interior has been kitted out with mid-nineteenth-century furnishings, the period when a city burgher did indeed reside here.
