    On the following days, all shops and banks are closed, while public transport and many museums run to Sunday schedules: January 1, Maundy Thursday, Good Friday, Easter Monday, Common Prayers Day (fourth Friday after Easter), Ascension Day (fortieth day after Easter), Whit Monday (eighth Monday after Easter), Labour Day (the afternoon of May 1 – unofficial, but observed by most work places), Constitution Day (June 5), Christmas Eve (afternoon only), Christmas Day and Boxing Day.
