Getting around

The wide range of transport options makes travelling around Thailand easier than elsewhere in Southeast Asia. Buses are fast and frequent, and can be quite luxurious; trains are slower but safer and offer more chance of sleeping during overnight trips; plus, if travelling by day, you're likely to follow a more scenic route by rail than by road. Ferries provide easy access to all major islands and local transport comes in all sorts of permutations, both public and chartered.
