Getting around
The easiest way to explore Durban is by car. The city's freeways are well signposted, and with careful map-reading getting around is straightforward. You need to plan ahead, though, as Durbanites drive fast and there's no time to dither at lane changes and junctions. Cycling is safe along the beachfront, but hazardous on any major road, and not really recommended. There are several car rentalcompanies in Durban.
